p me off man
The city inspector came to our house today. The city is trying to say that the house we bought 1-1/2 years ago and have done no cost-changing improvements to is worth $20,000 more than we paid for it. That's a huge tax change so, bizarrely, in this era when everyone is worrying about the decreasing value of their homes, we have to fight to reduce the value of our home. C-man says the inspector agrees with me, that the value should be what we paid for it**. Hopefully we won't have to go through too many rounds with the city to get that to be the final conclusion. The inspector does say that we are lucky to be living in our neighborhood, because it should hold its value well, and we won't have to do many improvements to get an increase in value if we want that.

Also, I've been having major crazy dreams lately. On Monday night, they flipped all over the place and through almost the entire roster of people I know in real life. Including in one dream my boss, my sister, and [info]streetdreams. These people would have nothing to say to each other if they ever actually met in real life, but in my dream they got along pretty well. I must have been through at least 10 completely separate and entirely unnrelated dream sequences (of the ones I could remember when I woke up). Too bad I am too lazy to do much of anything, and have not mastered the skill of dream journaling that others of you have. I only remember the one dream with [info]streetdreams now, and even that only vaguely.

At work, I get to do yet another rules presentation on Friday. You see, if they want me to get all my other backlogged work done, they can't keep asking me to attend meetings, which lower my productivity significantly because not only do I lose work time during the meeting, but I also have corresponding recovery time after the meeting is over. And if they ask me to *present* at the meeting, well then I lose tons of pre-meeting time to prep work.

I am boring. I have nothing else to say.

**Which is still an increase in the city's bottomline, since of course they have our current value set at, I think, what the last owner paid, before she added a garage and then sold it to us for a tidy increase
